Your stairway to the stage
1st step: Singing Auditions with integrated workshop
All applicants may participate in this coaching. It will be a preparation for the audition and will contribute a valuable experience: combined with exercises in improvisation you will discover and mobilise your means of physical expression and
better understand stage-specific proceedings. We would like to offer you animation to develop your roleplaying capacities as required by the professional rehearsals. The stage is demanding a self-confident and secure play along with the singing.
On the afternoon of the following day you will be ready to compete in the auditions for qualifying for the final round. There will be a maximum of 22 singers per audition unit. Particiopants are requested to prepare one aria from “Cosi fan
tutte” – if existing in the part – or another Mozart aria comparable in language and style and another aria from their repertoire (free choice).
2ndstep – final audition with consulting elements
Roundabout 50 competitors from the 1st round of auditions will be invited to the final auditions. There, we offer information and exchange of experiences on the professional career in general. On your demand we give you a short preparation before and consulting after your performance. In any case you will gain a valuable individual orientation. The jury will be chaired by the artistic director and conductor, of the “Così fan tutte” production, Mario Vanzago.
The day after the auditions we are going to start the role studies. You’ll get an introduction by the conductor and by the stage director. (Please secure this extra day in your personal agenda). If not selected, you nevertheless have the opportunity to watch this part of the work.
3rdstep – Easter rehearsal period in Weikersheim
Singers will be working with professional pianoaccompaniment under the tutorage of our singing teachers. You experience new possibilities to effect the potentials of your voice. Our teacher in german language will guide you to correct pronounciation. The stage director will introduce his dramatic vision, and will – in co-operation with a choreograph – lead you to the principles of his dramatic conception.
4thstep – Summer rehearsal period and performances
For several weeks you are training your role, guided by our professionals, refining your interpretation within the complete production comprising stage, choir and orchestra. The performance is being shaped. We will focus your singing voice and your stage play. Passing the principal rehearsals with piano, later with the orchestra, costumes and light the production heads towards the première.
1.200 visitors are being held by the tribune in the center courtyard of the castle, where all the 9 open air performances will be held. Guest performances at Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and at Rheingau Musikfestival are scheduled.
