Courses and Workshops 2012
Courses comprise three continuing parts taking place each morning (10–13 h) of the 21, 22, 23 of July.
Workshops take one afternoon each (15–18 h) on the 21, 22, 23 July and are meant to let you try your hand at different music forms.
Each Participant may therefore attend one course and three workshops.
Big Band (K1, in German & English) No matter what instrument you play – you will dive into a couple of Jazz pieces. For newcomers and experienced.
Choir (K2, in German) Arrangements for pop-/jazzchoir will give you a challenge and profit also for contemporary choral music.
Conducting (K3, in German) Working with one of the camp ensembles you will get a practical insight of what conducting is all about.
Free improvisation (K4, in German & English) „Spaces“ is the keyword when playing without sheet music. group improvisations will be „agreed“ on and performed.
DJ-ing (K5, in German & English) Mixing and scratching – an art of its own. Please bring 6 songs on vinyl or MP3 on USB-Stick (no audio CDs)
Sound engeneering/recording (K6, in German) Wanna know how to deal with mikes & Co? Recording, mix and mastering a CD.
Percussion (K7, in German & English) How to make a song sound differently by rhythm? It’s all about creativity and communication in the group.
Salsa Jazz Dance (K8, in German & English) Melting paces of the Salsa into elements of Jazz Dance brings about new choreographies. Fun and move with Latino music.
Composing soundmaps (K9, in German) Explore Weikersheim with a mike and a recorder and create individual soundscapes. Open up your ears and ideas.
Chamber orchestra (K10, in German & English) A classical and a contemporary piece – that’s the program. All Instruments welcome, some experience in ensembles fine.
Dance orchestra (K11, in German & English) Waltzes, swing, tango or „Schlager“ of the 1930ies will revive good vibrations. Advanced instrumental skills, first sight reading.
Music of the Baroque era (K12, in German) Music of the Baroque era can still be fresh and exciting. advancedinstrumental skills, ensemble experience.
Jazz improvisation (W1, in German & English) Throw sheet music aside and concentrate on jazz tunes. There will be groups for beginners and more experienced.
Singing techniques (W2, in German & English) How do you make your voice and body an instrument? Discover different singing styles.
Conducting (W3, in German) Always wanted to change sides? Experience a conductor’s point of view: Techniques, choir, orchestra – the choice is yours.

Audio engeneering (W6, in German) Learn to handle cables, mikes and mixing desk for a smaller PA device. Be a grip at the evening concert.
Percussion (W7, in German & English) How to make a song sound differently by rhythm? It’s all about creativity and communication in the group.
HipHop Breakdance (W8, in German & English) Get to know different styles and their repertoire, aim at coordination, power and condition. Boys and girls don’t be shy.
Musical Dance (W9, in German & English) Experience musical dancing as a kind of story-telling with much appeal and try a little show of your own in the group.
Step Dance (W10, in German & English) Test on your shoes. They will be your percussion instrument. Try a small performance. Bring shoes with a hard sole.
Stage appearance (W11, in German) Make the audience yours and say good-by to stage fright. Prepare some littel pieces and bring your instrument.
Beat Boxing with Loop (W12, in German & English) Combined with a mike, your mouth is your percussion. Learn how to operate a loop station to accumulate more sounds.
Rap (W13, in German) Get together with a true rapper who will show you how to advance in lyrics and rhythm.
Didgeridoo (W14, in German) A meeting in Downunder. This Australian instrument will be a challenge, but try permanent breathing and you’ll see.
Songwriting (W15, in German) How to make an idea a song? How put together melody, harmony and rhtyhm? Bring your latest trials if you want.
Organising Concerts (W16, in German) Learn the planning of a concert project from asking the output. Get management skills by the concrete project.
Fundraising (W17, in German) How to get to other people’s money for your music project? Get the basics of culture fundraising.
Social Media Marketing (W18, in German) „I like“ culture management. Get a clou about the web 2.0, wikis, blogs, networks, podcasts etc. and how to operate them.
